Woolly’s  Plant Inspiration: Plants That Woolly Love Pockets

Cyclamen (Cyclamen persicum)

Sun: Cyclamen need bright, indirect light in the winter, or while the plant is growing. When it becomes dormant try and keep out of the direct light.

Zone: Since these plants are more of a “winter” plant, they like to be above 50 degrees. Do not expose to sudden or long drafts of cold air, and keep cool in hot, dry air.

Soil: Does best in a potting mix that soil based. Since Cyclamen is a tuberous plant, keeping the tuber slightly above the soil line is key.

Water: As with most plants, water when the soil is dry to touch. With tuber slightly above the soil line, be careful not to get water on the crown of the plant. If plant goes into a dormant state (usually in the summer), ease up on watering. This will help the crown not to rot.

Culture: Flowers shoot above the leaves. Generally come in white, pink and red. Although other colors are around. A nice winter/shade plant.

Tip: During the dry winter months be sure your Cyclamen have some humidity. Spraying them or keeping them near water may help.
