Plants & People Week 3

Oct 21, 2013

Plants & People Week 3 featured plant photos taken by Miguel Nelson from his visit to Lotusland. Ganna Walska’s Lotusland estate gardens is located in Montecito, which is near Santa Barabara, California. The estate has 14 impressive gardens, with a large and rare cycad collection. The gardens were created over four decades by the late Madame Ganna Walska who was an opera singer turned garden designer extraordinaire. Lotusland’s mission statement is, “We preserve and enhance the unique, historic estate of Madame Ganna Walska, care for and improve its collections, and develop its conservation and horticulture programs, so they educate us, inspire us, and advance our understanding and appreciation of the importance of plants in our lives and in the life of the planet.” We strongly encourage a visit if you have the chance. Because Lotusland is a public garden operating in a private, residential neighborhood, advance reservations are required. And a huge thanks to all the instagrammers who contributed beautiful portraits — @laura_austin(Los Angeles), @jessewald(Los Angeles), @emmajanekepley(New York), @badtzxo(New York), @logancolephoto(Orange, CA) @majourjd, and @saamuelrichard.
