Plant Inspiration : Snapdragon

Oct 11, 2013

Snapdragons (Antirrhinum majus)

Sun: Full sun to part shade.

Zone: These do the best in zones 4 thru 11.

Soil: Well drained soil please with a natural pH of 6.0-7.0

Water: Snapdragons require more water when first planted and/or during the first few weeks of their young lives. Once established they will need to be watered regularly once a week, especially if there was no rain.

Habitat: These plants are bushy and have tall stalks (or spikes) that carry the flower buds. The flowers line the whole spike and bloom from the bottom up. They bloom in all different colors and shades.

Tip: Can be grown as a tender perennial or an annual. Snapdragons are great the first year you have them, and will start to deteriorate after that. If you like a vibrant healthy plant, we suggest starting fresh and new every year. Don’t be afraid to provide some support or stakes for the taller varieties.

Category: Thriller – Used as focal points and to create a dynamic visual composition.
