Plant Inspiration : Paperwhite Daffodil

Dec 13, 2013

Paperwhite Daffodil (Narcissus papyraceus)

Sun: Full sun to part shade for this daffodil (actually almost all do).

Zone: Does best in zones 8-11. They generally need the cooler winter to vernalize (see vernalization in dictionary)

Soil: Like always, a well drained soil will do these beauties right!

Water: Not a water hog or drought tolerant. Daffodil ranges somewhere in between, so please do not over water or under water and they will be fine.

Habitat: This bulb plant is to be planted in the fall, then in the spring they will emerge and add beauty to your landscape. They have long grass like leaves, and can grow 1-3 feet tall. Flowers are very fragrant and showy.

Tip: These plants can easily be forced if done correctly. Be sure to keep the foliage on the plants for at least 6 weeks after they are done flowering, so the plant can continue to photosynthesize. These also make great cut flowers.

Category: Thriller – Used as focal points and to create a dynamic visual composition.
