Plant Inspiration: Globe Amaranth

Feb 13, 2014

The globe amaranth, aka fireworks is a spectacular, annual flower that adds a punch of color to any planter or Pocket. They’re one of our favorite bloomers because it’s drought tolerant and not very fussy to grow. They blossom into a rich fuchsia / magenta color with sparkly yellow tips which resembles fireworks! How fun are they?! Butterflies also flock to them. They retain their shape and color even after drying so they make perfect romantic table bouquets. Not only are globe amaranths pretty to look at, they make delicious teas as well. To grow and care for these fireworks, they need full sun. They’re pretty flexible with a variety of soils and moisture levels. Just make sure there’s drainage and be careful not to over fertilize. They grow about 1–3 feet tall. Happy planting and growing!
