Plant Inspiration | Dill
Dill (Anethum graveolens)
Sun: Full Sun or at least 6 hours of sunlight each day. If growing indoors, at least 12 hours of indirect or fluorescent light.
Zone: Above 60 degrees F is ideal. Dill can be grown throughout the summer in cooler zones, and in zone 9 or higher can be grown in the winter. Hot weather may cause it to seed faster.
Soil: Does best in well drained, slightly acidic soil that is rich in organic matter.
Water: Water them regularly, keeping the soil moist but not too wet.
Habitat: Dill is a member of the Parsley family (it almost looks parsley). Dill is generally and easy to grow from seed. This is an upright plant, and the flat flowers can make the plant bend with its weight. This plant is very aromatic and will provide a fragrance to your living wall.
Tip: Harvested dill leaves in a Ziploc bag can be stored in the freezer. Since this plant attracts bees, it is perfect next to cucumbers since they need bees to pollinate! Keep protected from high winds or windy places (stalks can easily break when they get longer). Dill will get bushier of you pinch them, allowing you to use it more often.
